Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 1139 -- MEMORIAL HIGHWAY

SPONSOR:  Gibbons (Yaeger)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Transportation by a vote of 15 to 0.

This bill designates the portion of State Highway 21 from the
intersection of Lindbergh Avenue to the intersection of Gravois
Road in St. Louis County as the "Sergeant William McEntee
Memorial Highway."  The Department of Transportation must erect
and maintain appropriate signage to be paid for by Kirkwood
police officers.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the designation is appropriate
for a law enforcement officer who lost his life in the line of
duty.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Gibbons.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
